Pamphlets, photographs, progams, wills, deeds, and other miscellaneous documents pertaining to Long Island. Of note are the wills of Elias Hicks, Sr., 1829, and Robert Williams, 1682; photocopies of the patent for the Town of Oyster Bay, 1677, and an Indian deed of land to Robert Williams, 1648; apprenticeship indenture of the black child Peter to Peter Schenk, 1806; photocopy of the legal release of a slave, 1776; programs from local events, 1927-1955; and articles and pamphlets on Long Island history, 1947-ca. 1985, such as Hicksville's garment industry, doctors and the practice of medicine, artists, Long Island Railroad, and World War II.

Elias Hicks was an eminent Quaker minister from Jericho, Long Island, N.Y. He was a farmer, partner in a tannery, and had a knowledge of surveying. Elias Hicks was born on March 19, 1748, a birthright member of Westbury Monthly Meeting, New York, and the son of John and Martha (Smith) Hicks.
